Abstract

Population growth increased the production and consumption of meat and milk worldwide, has generated a detriment of natural resources. This problem occurs in tropical and subtropical developing countries, where their economic growth depends on agro-livestock production. Currently, a balance is sought between the production and maintenance of ecosystems (sustainable intensification), promoted within the framework of the 2030 Agenda, the objective was: to evaluate the sustainability of silvopastoral systems in the ecoregions of Paraguay, it was carried out in the ecoregions: Dry Chaco (Dc), Wet Chaco (Wc) and Atlantic Forest (Af), in six productive units, using the questionnaire of 100 questions of the SAFA Smallholders v.2.0.0 application, divided into 21 themes and four dimensions: 1) Environmental Integrity, 3) Resilience Economy, 3) Social Welfare and 4) Good Governance. The evaluation consisted of qualitative criteria: Irrelevant, Unacceptable, Limited, Good. The resulting degree of sustainability in silvopastoral systems was: in the Dc, the Dc1 and Dc2 systems, the Biosdiversity and Equity issues are valued as Limited, in the Wc ecoregion, the Wc3, Wc4 and Wc5 systems differ in the degree of global sustainability and in Af the issue of Bioviversity is Unacceptable.
